Showerthought: I was replacing dryer thermistors for months before a tech showed me the real test.

For a solid six months, any time a dryer came in with a no heat complaint, I'd just swap the thermistor. It was my go to fix. Then this older guy, Mike, who works out of a van in Mesa, watched me do it. He said 'You ever actually check the continuity change with a heat gun?' I hadn't. He pulled out his meter, showed me how a good one should drop resistance smoothly as it warmed up. The next three 'bad' thermistors I pulled? Two of them tested fine. I was just throwing parts at the problem because that's how I was shown. Now I always do the heat test first. How many of you actually test every single thermistor before you replace it, or do you just swap it on sight?

What part got you? For me it was the endless paperwork, felt like it took longer than the actual project.

The paperwork is the real project, the other stuff is just the warm-up act.
