Pulled a used control board off a dead Frigidaire instead of ordering new, saved the customer $260, but Im still not sure I made the right call | Appliance Repairers - Talk Freely
Man, this is the same thing I see everywhere, people fixing stuff instead of tossing it and buying new. I did the same thing with my washer last year, grabbed a used timer off eBay for 30 bucks and it's still running fine. The thing is nobody thinks about where all that junk goes when we just order new parts all the time, it piles up in landfills and half of it still works. Used parts can be a gamble but honestly some of that old stuff was built better than what they sell now. You saved the guy 260 bucks and kept a board out of the trash, hard to see how that's the wrong call unless it dies next week.
