Can we talk about how I changed my tune on those expensive multimeters?
I always bought the $40 models from the hardware store because I figured they did the same thing. After I got a Fluke 87V as a gift last month, I was shocked that my voltage readings on a dryer outlet stopped jumping around by 5 volts. Has anyone else noticed a big difference just from getting a better meter?

That cheap meter noise drives me crazy once you see the real difference.

Totally get that. @elizabethtaylor once you hear a clean master through good converters, you can't unhear the mud. I had that exact moment listening to a track on an Apogee vs. a cheap interface. It's like the whole sound stage opened up. Thing is, that "real difference" makes it impossible to go back to the cheap stuff.

Depends on the room and monitors too, a cheap setup can sound fine with the right mix.
