Installed my 100th DSC panel today and noticed something weird

After 100 of these things I finally caught that the default zone 1 tamper bypass only works if you hold the * key for exactly 3 seconds. Has anyone else run into this or am I just slow?

Man I feel this in my bones. My 57th panel I finally figured out that if you sneeze while holding the key it resets the timer and you gotta start over. Pretty sure the people who write these manuals just guess at the timing and hope nobody calls them on it.

Dude the part about the manual writers guessing at the timing had me laughing out loud. I swear they just pick random numbers sometimes. I had a similar thing happen with the door panel on my old car, I must have popped that thing off like 15 times before I realized if you breathe on the clip wrong it snaps. And yeah the sneeze thing is real, I dropped my phone once while trying to hold a clip and the whole process reset. It's like they designed these things to be impossible on purpose.
