A security guard's comment about camera angles got me thinking

Last week a night guard at a mall in Phoenix told me he watches the footage from our installs and most cameras miss the actual entry point because we aim them at the door, not the path to it. He said his crew catches people going around back alleys almost every night, have you guys adjusted your aiming strategy based on how intruders actually approach?

Are we sure that guard wasn't just telling a good story? Back alley cameras have their own problems, like bad lighting, weird angles, and way more false alarms from cats and trash. A door cam at least gives you a clear face and a time stamp you can hand to police. Chasing every possible path someone might take just means you end up with a dozen cameras that all show nothing useful.
