Warning: an old lead at the Tulsa hangar said never torque a prop bolt dry, and I brushed it off for one annual
I was 22 and in a hurry, so I ran those bolts on a 172 without the thread lube, and the torque wrench clicked way too early. Pulled two studs the next week, $600 in parts and a very quiet walk to the boss's office. Anyone else learn that one the hard way, or am I the only guy who had to buy the lesson?
