Rant: the air fryer basket that shall not be cleaned properly after last Tuesday

Man, last Tuesday I decided to test my new air fryer with a frozen chicken patty, right? 15 minutes at 380, easy. But I forgot the basket was still greasy from Sunday's wings, and the whole thing smoked up my kitchen like a campfire indoors. My roommate yelled, "Are you burning the place down?" and I had to air out the apartment for an hour. Took me 20 minutes to scrub that mesh with a toothbrush, and I still found a stuck crumb in the corner. Has anyone else had a stubborn grease spot that just won't budge, or am I the only one who skips the pre-clean?

Tried soaking mine in hot water with a drop of dish soap for like 30 minutes before scrubbing... that got most of it off. But for the real stubborn bits, I ended up using a paste of baking soda and water and letting it sit for a bit. The grease finally gave up after that, but honestly I just line the basket with foil now half the time to save myself the headache. Still have a little brown spot in the corner that I pretend doesn't exist...
