My friend told me to put a wet paper towel under my air fryer chicken
She said it would keep the chicken from drying out, so I tried it with some boneless thighs last night. The towel just got stuck to the basket and made a huge mess, and the chicken skin never got crispy. I had to scrub the basket for like ten minutes after. Has anyone found a good trick for keeping chicken juicy without ruining the crisp?

Why would you put a wet towel under the chicken? I saw a food blog say that just makes steam and kills the crisp. @torres.sage is right about the soggy skin. What works for me is a light brush of oil on the chicken and not over-cooking it. The air fryer needs that hot air to move around to get things crispy. Putting a wet towel in there just blocks it all up.

Mine stuck too, and the chicken was just soggy.

Yeah, that wet towel trick is a total fail. It just steams everything. You need the air to hit the skin directly. I pat my chicken totally dry with paper towels, then a tiny bit of oil and salt. Cook it skin side up, don't crowd the basket. Comes out way crispier every time.
