Last night I put frozen hash browns in the air fryer without checking first
I was at my buddy's place in Denver and tossed a bag of shredded hash browns straight from the freezer into his Cosori at 400 degrees. 20 minutes later we had a black smoking brick that smelled like burnt potato chips and he still gives me crap about it. Anyone else ever ruin a batch of something basic because you got too confident skip the preheat?

400 degrees for frozen hash browns? Dude that's basically setting your air fryer to flamethrower mode, you're lucky you didn't set off the smoke detectors in the whole building.

Wait have you tried dropping the temp to 350 and just letting them run longer? I read somewhere that the higher heat actually burns off the oil coating before the inside gets cooked, so you end up with charred outsides and raw middles. Took me way too many smokey kitchen disasters to figure that out myself. Frozen hash browns need that lower and slower approach, I swear the bag instructions are lying to us most of the time.
