Trained an AI model on 500 cat photos and kept getting dogs back
I spent like 3 months building a custom image classifier for my vet clinic to spot cat breeds, but it kept labeling everything as a golden retriever. Turns out my training dataset had a bunch of mislabeled shelter photos I never double checked. Has anyone else had a similar facepalm moment where the garbage in was totally obvious after the fact?

Oh man, "garbage in was totally obvious after the fact" really hit home. I once spent two weeks training a model on what I thought were landscape photos and it turned out half the images were just blurry thumbs from my phone. Hope you got a good laugh out of it at least.

Oh man, I've TOTALLY been there! Spent a week training a model on "city traffic" and it turned out my dataset was 40% parking lots and 30% pictures of my dog. At least we both learned the hard way that data cleaning is not optional, right?
