Dropped $80 on an AI resume reviewer and it was all fluff

I paid for one of those AI resume tools last Tuesday and it just told me to add numbers and action verbs, stuff I already knew from free YouTube videos. Then I ran the same resume through a free chat model and got way more specific fixes. Has anyone else found free AI actually beats the paid niche tools?

Last year I paid $60 for a tool called ResumeGenius Pro and got the exact same cookie cutter advice, so I get the frustration. Honestly I used to think the paid stuff must be better since they charge money for it, but this matches what I found on my own. I threw my resume at a free chat model one night out of boredom and it pointed out my formatting was breaking the ATS scanner, plus it rewrote a whole bullet point that actually made sense. The paid tool just kept saying "quantify your achievements" over and over like it was some magic cure. Now I just use free tools first and only check paid ones if I really need extra help, which honestly is never. The gap between what those niche sites charge and what they actually deliver is a total scam.
