Pro tip: A partner in Chicago told me our referral fee was too high and it changed my whole deal structure.

They said our 20% cut on every lead was making them push clients toward our most expensive package, not the right fit. We switched to a flat $500 finder's fee per qualified intro, no matter the final project size. Now our partners send us better matches, not just bigger checks. Has anyone else moved away from percentage-based referrals?

I used to think percentages were best.

I read somewhere that flat fees actually make clients feel safer than percentages do.

What about the client's trust when they find out about the fee?
