I used to grocery shop every Sunday, now I go almost every day and my bill dropped $80 a week
For about 6 years I did one big Sunday run at the Kroger on High Street, filled the whole cart, and felt like I had my life together. The problem was I threw out so much food by Wednesday that I started keeping a running list of what went bad and it was ugly. Last spring a coworker mentioned she only buys what she can carry home in two bags, so I tried it for a month out of spite. My weekly bill went from around $210 to $130, mostly because I stopped buying five things "for the week" that I never actually wanted. The catch is I now make 3 or 4 small trips instead of one, and I still have not decided if the time cost is worth the money saved. For those of you who cook at home most nights, did you land on one big trip or a bunch of small ones, and which one actually held up after a few months?
