Question about those new smart thermostats for Albuquerque homes

I was sure they were just a gimmick. My old dial one worked fine for twenty years. Then my buddy in the Northeast Heights got one and showed me his gas bill. It dropped by almost forty bucks the first winter month. He said the auto schedule for our big temperature swings is the key. Anyone else in the valley see real savings with these things?

Has anyone thought about the wear and tear savings on your furnace? Those big temperature swings we get force your old system to work extra hard all day. A smart thermostat eases it into changes instead of sudden spikes. That gentle ramp up and down can add years to your equipment's life, which is a huge hidden cost avoided. The bill drop is great, but preventing a major repair might be the bigger win.

Yeah, that's the part people miss. My old furnace used to kick on with this loud bang every time, and you could hear the strain. Since I got a smart thermostat, it just... starts up quiet. It feels less like a shock to the whole system. I'm sure that's saving me from a big breakdown down the road. The money on the bill is nice, but not having a surprise $1200 repair bill sounds even better.

Forty bucks in one month is a crazy drop.
