My neighbor swore I should water my foundation every day in July, and he was right
Dale across the street caught me watering my grass at 6am back in June and told me I was wasting water on the lawn while my slab was the thing that needed it. He said just drag the hose along the foundation line for 20 minutes every other day during the dry stretch, so I tried it. Come August I had two hairline cracks in my garage wall, and Dale had zero. Meanwhile my coworker in Rio Rancho ignored the same advice and paid $4,200 for pier work. Anyone else out here running a soaker hose on a timer, or am I just lucky this summer?
Had a buddy in Tempe who tried the same thing but got lazy with it by week two. His HOA actually sent a warning letter about water running down the sidewalk, so he quit. Sure enough, come October he was patching cracks in his driveway and the guy next door who kept at it had nothing. That daily soak really seems to make the difference more than people give it credit for.
