I finally see how much easier pipe fixes are now

Back when I was young, fixing a leak meant hours of wrestling with rusty fittings. Today, with simple compression joints, I can do it in no time flat. What old home repair task do you think has improved the most?

You think compression fittings are actually better? Have you seen one fail after a few years? That plastic ferrule cracks and you get a slow leak inside your wall. Soldered copper joints from the 70s are still holding strong in my house. New stuff feels like a shortcut that'll need fixing again sooner. Give me the old way that lasts.

Thank god we don't have to mess with solder anymore.

Tbh, "don't have to mess with solder anymore"? How does that even work? I can't picture putting electronics together without it.
