Warning: My abandoned mall crawl took a turn with a random karaoke machine, lol
I was exploring this shut-down mall off the highway during a road trip last month. Everything was dusty and quiet until I found an old electronics store. Inside, there was a karaoke machine still plugged in and working, which was wild. I couldn't resist and belted out a terrible song, thinking no one was around. Then a security guard popped out from behind a counter and just stared at me, lmao. He said he uses the place to practice his guitar and thought I was his buddy. We ended up chatting and he showed me some hidden spots before I left, totally absurd but fun.

That part about the security guard popping out and thinking you were his buddy is so relatable. I mean, I had a similar thing happen in an old movie theater I was poking around in. There was a film projector still running, and I got caught by the caretaker who thought I was a new hire. Idk, but I just apologized and mentioned I loved old movies, and we ended up talking for an hour. He showed me the original balcony and some classic posters in storage. Maybe it's just me, but being honest and curious like that always turns awkward moments into good stories.

Ever have a moment so awkward you just have to laugh at yourself? My singing would probably make that guard wish his buddy never showed up. At least you got a cool tour out of it.
