This was back in October at the Town East Mall in Mesquite, Texas, which has been mostly empty since around 2017. I was poking around the old Sears entrance when a guard rolled up on a golf cart, and I figured I was done for. Turns out he worked loss prevention at that same store for 11 years before it closed, and when I told him I used to fold jeans at a Sears in another state he just unlocked the gate and walked me to the food court himself. He pointed out where the Orange Julius used to be and said 'I still check the fountain every morning, don't know why.' Anybody else have a run in with a former mall employee who basically became your tour guide?
