That one stranger's tip about water damage saved my last mall trip
Some guy at the entrance of the old Franklin Mills in Philly told me to check the ceiling tiles before stepping anywhere, and he was right, there was a hidden sinkhole in the food court that would've wrecked my ankle. Anyone else get random advice from fellow explorers that turned out to be spot on?

That "hidden sinkhole" story sounds like the kind of thing that grows legs every time it gets told. A random dude at the entrance is not an engineer, and half the time these tips are just people messing with you or repeating some rumor they heard. Ceiling tiles tell you almost nothing about what is under your feet, water up top and a hole in the floor are two totally different problems. If there really was a sinkhole in a food court, the mall would be shut down so fast your head would spin. Sounds like you got lucky or maybe just walked around a wet spot and made it a bigger deal later.
