Rant: A security guard at the dead mall in Dayton let me in, then asked me one question I still can not shake
I got into the old Salem Mall in Dayton last Tuesday and the guard, a guy named Ray, walked me past the food court and just said his mom worked the Orange Julius counter there for 19 years. The weird win was him trusting me to wander alone after that, but what stuck was him asking if I thought anyone would remember the place once it is gone. Has anyone else had a guard or squatter share a family tie to a mall you were poking around?
That question hits hard. My grandpa ran the shoe repair kiosk at our local mall for like 15 years and nobody ever talks about it now. Stuff just disappears and people move on I guess.
