Hit 47 abandoned malls in 18 months and finally realized something

That's 47 malls across 6 states and every single one had a food court with at least one fake potted plant still standing. Anyone else notice those weird plastic trees are basically indestructible?

Wait, were those plastic trees just impossible to kill or were they actually part of the building code or something? I remember when I worked at a mall back in 2009 we had this giant fake ficus in the food court that survived a ceiling leak, a fire alarm evacuation, and some kid trying to climb it. It was still there when I quit two years later, same dusty leaves and everything. Those things must be made from whatever they use to build spaceships, because they outlast every single store that opens and closes around them.

Gotta disagree @the_piper, those things are ugly and just collect dust. Real plants look way better.
