Switched to catching robotics lab updates as they drop
I began checking new research posts from university robotics labs right when they publish. Seeing raw data and early tests has given me a clearer picture of where the field is heading. It's way better than waiting for summarized news pieces.

My brain hurts just trying to follow some of the raw sensor data (I guess that's the whole messy point though).

Actually, I find the messy stuff way clearer to follow.

The Stanford Robotics Lab released their quarterly progress report yesterday, and the section on sensor fusion was messy but interesting. I started checking raw lab updates a few months back, and it's like seeing behind the curtain. You get to watch the iterative failures, like when a navigation algorithm crashes during a test run. That stuff never makes it into the polished news articles. It gives you a much better sense of where the real hurdles are. I'm glad I'm not the only one who prefers this direct feed.
