The instant coffee vs. pour-over choice I made during a power outage in Boise

When the power went out last March, I had to pick between instant coffee or grinding beans by hand with a crank. I went with instant, thinking it would be simple, but the taste was so flat I actually missed the 20 minutes of manual work. Has anyone else switched their emergency coffee plan after a bad experience, or is it just me?
