Showerthought: My aunt's memories offer a new angle on that unsolved village mystery.

She once mentioned a hidden path that wasn't on any of the old maps.

Honestly I used to think that mystery was just made up. But a hidden path local elders didn't map? That makes you wonder.

My grandma's farm in West Virginia had a trail like that, not on any county map. @the_simon, you're right to wonder, it changes how you see a place. Makes you think about how many little things get left out of the official story, maybe on purpose. Tbh that kind of stuff is way more interesting than any big famous mystery.

Yeah exactly, and it's not just trails. My uncle showed me an old bootlegger route through some woods that connected two towns, completely off any official record. Tbh that stuff feels more real than any history book because it was just people living their lives outside the system. Makes you realize how much of the past is just gone because no one with a pen was there to see it. Like whole ways of getting around or meeting up that just vanish once the last person who used them forgets.
