Sunrise alarm clock vs. my phone's blaring siren, no contest
Honestly, I spent 6 weeks trying to make my phone alarm work. I set like 4 different alarms, put it across the room, even tried one of those apps that makes you scan a barcode. Every single morning I'd wake up groggy with my heart pounding, and I'd hit snooze like a zombie. Ngl, I thought the sunrise alarm thing was a gimmick, but my sister in Portland shipped me her old one after she upgraded. It's been 3 weeks now and I wake up before the light even finishes ramping up. The difference is the gradual light feels like my body is choosing to wake up instead of being yanked out of a deep sleep. Has anyone else had luck with a light-based alarm, or am I just a sucker for a $50 gadget? What do you use that doesn't make you want to throw it against the wall?
Did you ever think the light alarm only works because you believe it will? I tried one for a month and honestly it did nothing for me. I still slept through the fake sunrise and woke up late. What actually fixed my mornings was just going to bed an hour earlier and keeping the blinds open so real sun hits my face. The gadget might help some people but I don't buy that it's the light doing the work. Sounds more like you were just ready to change your sleep habits.
