Why does nobody talk about fabric shrinkage during a big show?
I was backstage at a local theater in Austin, about 15 minutes before our collection debut. I had this silk dress that was perfect, but someone must have steamed it wrong because it shrank a full inch and a half in the hem. The model couldn't even zip it all the way. I had to grab my emergency kit and do a quick hidden gusset insert with some stretch lace I had, which took about 7 minutes. It held for the walk, but it was way too close. Has anyone else had a last-minute fabric disaster like that? What's your go-to fix?

Shrinkage talk is boring though, it's just part of the job. A good designer plans for it and checks everything twice. That's on you for not doing a final steam check yourself.

My buddy's wedding suit shrank a full inch because the tailor skipped the steam check.

Wow, so the factory gets a free pass?
