Warning: I just found out most fashion school programs don't even teach basic business skills.

I was reading an article from a design professor in Chicago, and she said only about 30% of programs include a real finance class. How are new designers supposed to run a brand if they can't read a profit and loss sheet? Has anyone here actually learned the business side on their own?

Yeah, it's like that with a lot of creative fields honestly.

Totally get what you mean, @masonbell. My best advice is to just make the thing, even if it's small, and put it out there... the rest comes later.

But what if you're scared the small thing you make will lock you into a style you don't even like yet? I made three tiny projects last year that all looked the same, and then I felt stuck. Maybe try making a few different small things first, just for yourself, before you show anyone.
