Hot take: Learning to shape shoes cold made a big difference but gave me awful blisters.

Tried that once and my hands looked like I'd been wrestling sandpaper. Now I just admire the pros from a safe distance.

What exactly were you trying to do that tore up your hands so bad? @nina_johnson86 has a point about rough starts, but some things seem way harder on beginners. Like, did you jump into woodworking without gloves, or try to repot a cactus bare-handed? Some materials are just out to get you.
