Appreciation post: A client in Portland asked me to wax her cat

She brought her Persian in a carrier and was completely serious, saying her groomer told her it would help with shedding. I had to explain, very gently, that animal waxing is not a thing and could really hurt the poor thing. It took about 15 minutes to talk her into just getting a proper deshedding treatment from a vet. Has anyone else had a request that was just so far out there?

My buddy who works at a vet clinic had someone call asking if they could give their pug a Brazilian wax for a wedding photo shoot. They were dead serious and got kind of upset when he said no, like it was a normal service they were being denied. He said he had to put the phone down for a second just to process it. People really do hear one weird thing online and just run with it without a second thought.

Honestly, that pug story sounds like a prank call. Who would even ask for that with a straight face? I'm calling total nonsense on that one.

Oh come on, people absolutely ask for stuff like that with a straight face. @torres.sage's vet clinic story just proves it. Brazilians for pugs? That's wild but totally believable when you think about how some people treat their dogs like accessories. I bet the same person who called about that also thinks their pug needs a custom tuxedo for the wedding. Honestly, the only nonsense here is thinking humans are too sensible to ask for ridiculous pet grooming services.
