Showerthought: The weird law about feeding pigeons in Venice, Italy

I was planning a trip to Venice last month and stumbled on a law that says you can get fined up to $700 for feeding pigeons in St. Mark's Square. Apparently they passed it in 2008 after the birds got too aggressive and damaged the monuments. Has anyone else run into a tourist trap law like this while traveling?

Skip the pigeons entirely, buy a drink at a canal bar instead.

Oh man, totally disagree here. The pigeons are what make that plaza feel alive. You can grab a drink and toss some crumbs to the birds at the same time. It's like a two for one deal on good vibes.

Yeah because nothing says "good vibes" like eating street food while dodging pigeon droppings from above. That's a real party move right there.
