TIL I was tightening my faucet handle the wrong way for 6 months
Had a leaky bathroom faucet that just wouldnt stop dripping no matter how much I tightened the handle. Finally looked under the sink and saw the whole nut was stripped because I was cranking it clockwise instead of counter-clockwise on some weird brand I got at a hardware store in Austin last spring. The guy at the counter told me like it was obvious and I felt like a total idiot. Anyone else ever had a simple fix that you made way worse by not reading the instructions first?

Wait, you stripped the nut because you were turning it the wrong way for 6 months? That's a brutal way to learn about lefty-loosey, righty-tighty. In my experience, those weird off-brand parts can really get you if you aren't careful.

Yeah that lefty-loosey thing is a rite of passage lol. What I've learned is to always crank it by hand first to feel which way it actually turns before grabbing a tool.
