That $200 compost tumbler I bought last spring turned into a rusty mess by August.

I figured a metal one would hold up better than plastic but the lid hinge snapped and the paint peeled off after three months in the sun... anyone found a tumbler that actually lasts more than one season?

honestly the dual chamber thing is such a trap lol. my neighbor got one and the divider warped after two months so now it's basically just a single chamber that's harder to empty. the metal ones are absolute garbage for the price, you're paying for the look not the durability. i've seen people swear by those rubbermaid brute bins with a bungee cord lid, those things are basically indestructible. even the sun fades them but they don't crack or rust. plus you can just toss the whole thing into a wheelbarrow when you need to turn it.

72 dollars and one trash season later, my "heavy duty" tumbler is basically a decorative rust bucket with spiders living in it. I honestly think the metal ones are just a scam to charge more for the same junk that falls apart. My buddy tried one of those fancy dual-chamber jobs and the handle broke off when he twisted it too hard on a hot day. I'm back to using a plain black plastic bin I drilled holes in myself, it's ugly but it's been sitting out for three years without crumbling.
