Just realized I've been painting my whole kitchen with the wrong end of the brush

I was trying to cut in along the ceiling for three hours, getting super frustrated because the paint kept dripping and my lines looked awful. My partner walked in, watched for a minute, and said 'Babe, you know you're supposed to use the skinny edge, not the flat side, right?' What's the most basic tool mistake you've ever made?

Spent a whole weekend trying to build a shelf with a screwdriver. I was forcing the screws in with just the driver, getting mad that the wood was splitting. My neighbor finally asked where my drill was. I didn't own one. I thought you just hammered screws in with the handle. Felt like a real genius that day.

Oh man, that sounds so frustrating. I can just picture the struggle, trying to muscle those screws in. We've all had those moments where the simple tools just aren't the right ones for the job.
