Shoutout to that random guy at the coworking spot who changed my whole setup
I was dead set on using a standing desk 100% of the time. Then this guy named Dave at the WeWork in Medellin told me he messed up his knees standing for 8 hours a day for 6 months. He said sitting half the time actually boosted his focus. Now I switch every 45 minutes using my phone timer. My $30 ikea stool makes sitting at standing height easy. Anyone else have a random stranger give them better advice than all the YouTube gurus?

Think standing all day is just as bad as sitting all day. I tried the 50/50 split for a few weeks and found my back hurt more from constantly switching positions. Timers stress me out too, I just stand until my feet get sore then sit.

Yeah that "constantly switching" thing is REAL. I feel like your body never gets a chance to fully adjust to either position if you're flipping back and forth every hour. I did the timer thing for like a week and spent more time staring at the clock than actually working. Ended up ditching the schedule and just going by FEEL too. Now I stand until my lower back starts talking to me, then sit until my butt goes numb, repeat. No science behind it but works better than any app ever did.
