Had a injector fail on I-75 south of Atlanta last month, changed how I buy parts forever

I was hauling a load of lumber back from a job near Macon when one of the injectors decided to crap out right near the truck stop outside of Griffin. Lost power fast, had to pull off and call a mobile diesel guy. He got me going with a used injector he had in his truck, but it cost me 200 bucks cash and I was stuck there for 4 hours. After that I started buying parts from a local diesel shop instead of the online places that ship slow. Anyone else have a breakdown on a highway that made you switch up where you get your parts?

That "4 hours" and "200 bucks cash" line really stuck with me because it's the kind of thing that makes you realize how much we just assume parts will show up on time when we need them. It's like ordering groceries online versus going to the store, you know, one is convenient until you actually need something right that second. I think breakdowns like that force you to see the hidden costs in convenience, even if it means paying a little extra at a local shop.

Ngl that hit me harder than I expected too. The idea that someone just had to drive around with cash hunting for a part that should've been there already is wild. Honestly it makes you wonder how many times that kind of thing happens behind the scenes and we just don't hear about it. 200 bucks cash in hand for a part that was supposed to be standard stock is crazy. Tbh it really shows how the whole system is held together by luck sometimes.
