But come on, is it really that deep? So an old pump works now, but new ones are quiet and just work. All that diesel smell and breakdowns for what, some old memories? My uncle's pump was more trouble than it was worth. I get the appeal, but is it actually better?

My neighbor still drives his 98 pickup that breaks down every other month. Sure old things have character, but is all that fixing up really better than something that just works?

Love seeing old gear come back to life. That heavy thump of a diesel pump just feels right when it's working. Takes me back to my granddad's farm, the smell of diesel and fresh cut hay. New pumps are fine, but they don't have that soul. Getting an old one running again is a real win. Sounds like you put in the work and it paid off.
