Finally had a date that didn't start with a phone check

Met someone last week who actually put her phone face down on the table before we ordered drinks. Dont know why that felt like a big deal but it did. Has anyone else noticed how rare that is now?

Has anyone else noticed that putting a phone face down isn't actually the same as silencing it? @grant.sam, it's a good start, but I still had to check my own phone after the date to see if I missed anything. It's like a half measure that feels polite but doesn't really solve the distraction problem.

Started doing the same thing myself a few months back... flipped my phone over before she even sat down. Felt a little awkward at first but she actually smiled and did the same thing right after.

I mean once you start the face down thing it kind of just becomes habit after a few dates.
