Spent 4 hours trying to opt out of my ISP's data selling - still not sure I did it right

Honestly, "still not sure I did it right" is the most frustrating part. You click through all those confusing menus and checkboxes and you're left wondering if it actually did anything. Ngl, I've been through this with Comcast and I ended up having to call them to confirm because the online system is so shady. It shouldn't take a whole afternoon just to not have your data sold, that's the real joke here.

lilyg83 nailed it with "the real joke" part. Here's the thing nobody talks about though - when you call to confirm, the phone rep will try to upsell you on something while you're there. I had Spectrum and the guy literally said "well if you opt out of data sharing you lose some discounts" like it was a punishment. They make it a maze on purpose so you either give up or get trapped into agreeing to something else. That whole afternoon is by design, not accident.
