I paid $90 for a laugh track app and it bombed harder than my punchlines at my nephew's birthday

So my kid brother dared me to buy this $90 "Comedy Booster" app that pipes in fake laughs after every joke. I tried it at my nephew's 10th birthday in Fresno two weeks ago. Told the classic "I'm reading a book about anti-gravity, it's impossible to put down" and the app let out this sad little chuckle track. The room went so dead quiet I could hear the ice cream melting. My sister just stared at me and whispered "did your phone just laugh at you?" Has anyone else tried gimmicks like this, or am I the only one who needs a refund and a new personality?
