I finally stopped telling that 'hungry caterpillar' joke at family dinners
Used to bust it out every holiday meal, thinking it was gold. The punchline about eating through the whole table got maybe one pity chuckle from my brother-in-law last Thanksgiving. My 8 year old niece just stared at me and asked if I was okay. Now I only try it when there's actual kids around, and even then I keep it short. Has anyone else had a joke that worked once and then bombed everywhere else for years?
