Feel for your neighbor because that’s a real violation. It happens way more often than people realize with those default factory settings. Definitely take that advice and change every password right after you unbox something.

Yeah, the "way more often than people realize" part is key. There are bots that just constantly scan for devices still using those factory defaults. It's not just doorbells, it's any smart plug or camera that goes online with a common password.

My buddy had his smart plugs start turning on and off at random. Turns out he never changed the default password from the box. It's scary how fast those bots find your stuff.
