That late night call about a broken ice machine finally broke me

I spent 45 minutes on the phone with a guy last Tuesday explaining why his hotel ice machine wasn't making ice fast enough for his 3 am margarita craving, and he actually asked me to drive over and fix it myself.

My cousin works at a 24-hour diner and once had a guy call demanding they send someone to fix the milkshake machine because his daughter was "having a meltdown" at 1 AM over a strawberry shake. He just said "we don't do house calls for desserts" and hung up lmao.

Man oh man, that hits close to home. I had a guy call me one time about a toilet that was "making a sad sound" and I drove 30 minutes only to find out it was his phone vibrating on the tile floor. Your ice machine story is way more frustrating though, people really think we live in the machine and can just pop over anytime. Some folks just don't get that 3 am is for sleeping, not margaritas with broken ice.

Had a buddy who worked hotel maintenance back in the day. He got a call at 2 AM from a guest who said their toilet was "humming too loud" and they couldn't sleep. He drove over, stood in the bathroom for 20 minutes, didn't hear a thing. Turns out the guest was trying to get a free room upgrade by making up a complaint. My buddy just said "sorry ma'am, the ghost left" and walked out.
