Just found out how many people yell at service workers over expired coupons

I was reading a report from a retail workers union in Chicago, and they did a survey last year. They said over 60% of frontline staff deal with a customer screaming about an expired coupon or discount at least once a week. Once a week! I used to think those viral videos were just rare, crazy moments. But that number is huge. It made me think about my own shift at the movie theater concession stand, where a guy once threw a bag of popcorn because his 'buy one get one free' email from 2018 wouldn't scan. I just stood there frozen. Knowing how common it is, I feel way more for anyone in a uniform now. Has anyone else had a coupon fight that just left you speechless?

Sixty percent every single week is a number that actually makes me feel sick. It’s not just a few bad videos, it’s a constant thing for most workers. That guy with the popcorn… I would have just shut down too. The fact that people think screaming over a piece of paper from five years ago is okay, it’s just wild. It really shows a total lack of respect for another person just trying to do their job.

What's scary is how normal this has become for customers too (they see it online and think it's okay). That constant stress must change how workers see every person walking in the door. It just makes the whole simple act of buying something feel hostile now.

Has anyone actually looked into whether @grant.nina's numbers are even legit, or are we just running with it?
