Vent: My roommate turned our living room into a plant nursery without asking
I came back from a weekend trip to find 15 pots of dirt and half-dead ferns covering every surface, and she says it's 'aesthetic.' Am I crazy for wanting a couch that isn't buried in leaves, or is she the one who needs to chill?

My buddy Dave pulled something similar last year but with fish tanks. He brought home a 50 gallon tank for "just one betta" and within a month we had four tanks lined up against the wall. The whole apartment smelled like fish food and wet filter pads. I finally told him he had to pick one room for his aquarium hobby or move the tanks to his bedroom. He chose to keep them in the living room so I just started eating all my meals in my room until he got the hint.

Setting a hard boundary on space worked for me too. Had to tell my roommate the living room was for people, not his reptile collection, and after that we split the common areas fair and square.
