Warning: I tried blasting a Spotify playlist in my car vs one full album and now I can't go back
Last Friday I drove from Austin to San Antonio, about 80 miles, and I had a party playlist going on shuffle the whole way, skipping songs every 30 seconds. Then on the way home I just put on one album front to back, no skipping, and it hit completely different. With the album I actually knew what was coming next and I cranked the volume way higher because I was locked in, not just waiting for a song I liked. The shuffle thing kept me jumping around but the album made the whole drive feel like one big moment. Has anyone else noticed that a full album at max volume beats a playlist, or am I just weird?
Drove from Denver to Vail last month, about 100 miles, and did the exact same thing. Had some chill mix going and kept hitting skip, then I put on Nirvana's Nevermind straight through and it was night and day. By the time Lithium came on I had the windows down and the volume at like 28, just fully in it instead of waiting for a good part. When you know the whole album you ride the ups and downs with it instead of grabbing for the next thing.
