Used to blast metal up to highway ramps, now I'm all about quiet jazz on the same stretch
For years my go-to max volume car song was some thrash metal like Slayer's Raining Blood, perfect for getting pumped before merging. But after a close call last August where I almost clipped a barrier on I-5 because I was headbanging too hard, I switched to John Coltrane's A Love Supreme. Now I crank that sax solo up to 11 and it actually keeps me calmer and more focused through the tricky parts. Anyone else have a song that changed your driving mood for safety reasons?

Wait, A Love Supreme doesn't have a sax solo, that's the whole suite.

Had a buddy who swore up and down that Coltrane didn't solo on that record at all. Played it for him once at my place, pretty loud, and right around the "Resolution" part he just froze. Said he'd heard it a hundred times but this time the sax just cut through everything. He called me the next day saying he felt like an idiot for missing it for years. Your mileage may vary on what counts as a solo versus just playing through the suite, but man, that sax is all over it once you really listen.
