Spent $350 on a load cell kit for my Liebherr and it saved my back in one week

I always thought those anti-two block systems were just extra junk to maintain. Then I dropped a load last Tuesday on a job in Omaha because I misjudged the boom angle by like 2 feet. Forklift guy almost got crushed. Next day I called my supplier and paid $350 for a load cell kit with audio alarm. First week with it I caught myself two times where I would have hit the limit. My foreman said it was a waste of money but now he wants one on every crane. Anyone else run these or do you trust your feel for the load?

That $350 load cell kit, does the audio alarm give you enough warning time to react smoothly, or does it just scream at you right before you trip?

Wait hang on, you said it was a load cell kit but those usually measure hook weight, not boom angle. Two blocking is more about the winch or boom extension, not the rated capacity. I think what you actually got was an anti-two block system with a limit switch and alarm, not a load cell. The load cells measure how much weight is on the hook so you don't overload the crane, but the two block thing is a separate safety feature for when the hook gets too close to the boom tip. Either way $350 is a steal for either one, most kits I've seen run closer to $600 or $700 especially with the audio alarm built in. Just wanted to straighten that out so nobody orders the wrong part and ends up more confused than helped.
