5,000 hours on a Grove RT and the counterweight pin still scared me today
I hit 5,000 logged hours on the same Grove RT this morning, which I thought was a big deal until I went to seat the 9,000 pound counterweight. The pin slid in easy, but that little hitch where it catches for a second before locking always makes my stomach drop, even after all that time. I pulled the logbook and noticed that in the last year, we've had two near misses on site in Houston related to guys rushing that same pin. Maybe it's just me, but I think the milestone number matters less than the repetition, you get comfortable and that's when the small stuff bites. Anyone else track their hours by machine, or do you just switch between units so much that the numbers blur together?
