Vent: I tried a 'cold perm' on my own hair to test the process and fried half of it.

I followed the instructions on a box from the beauty supply store exactly, left it on for the full 20 minutes, and my ends turned to literal straw. What's the best deep conditioning rescue you've used for major chemical damage?

Man, I used to think all deep conditioners were basically the same. Then I had a bleach meltdown last year. The only thing that made my hair feel like hair again was that Olaplex No. 8 mask. I slathered it on damp hair for a solid 30 minutes. It didn't fix the breakage, but it made the leftover hair way less crunchy and actually manageable. My wallet hated it, but my hair stopped feeling like hay.

Oh no, that's the worst feeling! But wait, did you check the condition of your hair before you started, like if it was already colored or dry? That stuff matters so much with chemicals.

My sister used a ten dollar conditioner from the drugstore after a bad bleach job and her hair turned out fine. People act like you need a chemistry degree to wash your hair now. It's just conditioner.
