My cordless clipper battery died halfway through a skin fade on a Friday night.

It was the only set I had charged because my backup charger stopped working two days before. Client was super cool about it, but I had to finish the cut with my old corded pair and the motor was so loud he jumped. Ended up giving him the service for free, which hurt after the week I had. What's a reliable brand for a second set of cordless clippers you'd actually trust as a backup?

Honestly the corded backup pulling a horror movie jump scare on the kid is the real highlight here. Ngl I once had my clippers die mid-bald fade and had to finish with kitchen scissors while the client kept asking if I was joking. For a solid backup I grabbed the Wahl Magic Clip cordless, they run forever and don't sound like a lawnmower when they hit a hairline.

The "kitchen scissors" story actually cracked me up because I used to think any clippers would work in a pinch as long as they charged. But then my main pair died on a Sunday afternoon and I grabbed my old corded set thinking it was fine. That thing sounded like a chainsaw and the client kept flinching so bad I gave up and finished with scissors too. I learned the hard way that not all backups are created equal. The Magic Clip you mentioned changed my mind on what a reliable second set should actually feel like when you're working. Do you keep both sets charged at all times or just rotate them?

26 bucks at Walmart for those old corded ones and I thought I was being smart. But yeah @uma685 you're totally right about the Magic Clip. I used to just let whichever one died sit dead til I needed it but now I keep em both on the charger after that Sunday disaster.
